Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Full-stack Engineer based in Netherlands.

Join a mission-driven engineering team building products at the intersection of technology, science, and decentralized innovation.
This role offers the opportunity to create scalable applications that connect researchers, communities, and funding partners.
You will work across the full technology stack, contributing to intuitive user experiences, reliable backend systems, and emerging Web3 capabilities.
The position combines hands-on development with the opportunity to influence technical decisions and engineering practices.
You will collaborate closely with product and design teams in a remote-first, async-friendly environment.
This is an opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects that aim to transform how scientific research is funded, shared, and accelerated.

Accountabilities:

As a Full-stack Engineer, you will contribute to building and scaling digital products that support researchers, communities, and innovation ecosystems. You will work across frontend, backend, and decentralized technologies while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful solutions.

  • Build, maintain, and improve web applications designed for scientific communities and research-focused users.
  • Develop robust APIs, backend services, databases, and scalable application architectures.
  • Create intuitive and reliable user interfaces in collaboration with designers and product stakeholders.
  • Contribute to Web3 infrastructure initiatives, including blockchain-related features and smart contract development when applicable.
  • Participate in technical discussions, architecture decisions, and continuous improvements to engineering practices.
  • Help establish a strong engineering culture through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and pragmatic problem-solving.
  • Deliver high-quality features while balancing technical excellence with business and user needs.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is a versatile engineer who enjoys working across the stack, solving complex problems, and building products in fast-moving environments. You should be comfortable adapting to new technologies and collaborating within a distributed team.

  • Experience developing modern web applications across frontend and backend environments.
  • Ability to work across the full stack and understand how different layers of an application interact.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a pragmatic, execution-focused mindset.
  • Experience designing and building APIs, backend services, and data-driven applications.
  • Comfortable working in remote-first, asynchronous teams with strong written communication skills.
  • Curiosity and interest in emerging fields such as Web3, decentralized technologies, biotechnology, or open science.
  • Ability to independently manage tasks, take ownership, and contribute to technical direction.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with blockchain development, smart contracts, or decentralized applications.
  • Background working with scientific data, research environments, or technical domains related to science.
  • Contributions to open-source projects.
  • Experience working in early-stage startups or high-growth technology environments.
Benefits:
  • Fully remote work environment with flexibility to work from anywhere.
  • Opportunity to contribute to impactful projects at the intersection of science and technology.
  • High ownership role within a small, collaborative team where individual contributions have significant impact.
  • Competitive compensation package with token and/or equity components.
  • Opportunity to influence product direction, technical strategy, and engineering culture.
  • Work alongside talented professionals focused on innovation and meaningful global impact.
