Welding Instructor


The Welding Instructor provides instructional support for a U.S Department of Labor Job Corps contractor, Human Learning Systems. The Job Corps program is a federally funded residential training program. Job Corps’ mission is to educate and train youth ages 16-24 for successful careers in the nation’s fastest-growing industries.

The Instructor is responsible for providing students with industry recognized instruction and training leading to full-time jobs, higher education or advanced training.


Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Provide students with quality career technical training instruction in a safe and clean environment which results in high completion and placement performance.
  • Motivate and counsel students in areas of behavior, training, personal problems or study habits; coordinate with counselors and other staff as necessary to resolve issues affecting student's training.
  • Maintain and monitor progress and attendance records, frequently update individual student progress on training achievement records (TARS).
  • As applicable, assist in the planning and implementation of CTST projects, provide supervision of students assigned to CTST projects or other center career and technical training projects.
  • Assist in developing community linkages and work-based learning (WBL) sites for the career and technical training department.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area that models high standards for a work environment.
  • Follows curriculum guidelines, organizes program of practical and technical instruction, including demonstrations of skills required in trade.

Education and Experience

A minimum of one-year experience in teaching or related field required.

Certified, licensed, or accredited in the state in which the center is located, or is accredited by a professional trade organization.
