FULL TIME - THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION

WordPress Developer

At RUMOR Advertising, we build websites that are designed to perform and built to last. We’re looking for a WordPress Developer with strong PHP experience who can take ownership of builds, contribute to ongoing improvements, and help us deliver scalable, high-quality websites.

This role is best suited for someone who is comfortable working under the hood in WordPress developing custom functionality when needed while also being familiar with modern builder tools and when to use them effectively.

What you’ll do:
  • Develop and customize WordPress themes and plugins using PHP
  • Build responsive, mobile-first websites from design files (Figma, etc.)
  • Create flexible, maintainable solutions using custom fields and structured content
  • Maintain and enhance existing client websites (feature updates, performance improvements, bug fixes)
  • Troubleshoot complex issues including plugin conflicts, performance bottlenecks, and code-level bugs
  • Optimize websites for speed, SEO, accessibility, and Core Web Vitals
  • Integrate third-party APIs and marketing tools
  • Work with Elementor, Gutenberg, or similar builders when appropriate
  • Support WooCommerce customization and enhancements
  • Collaborate with internal teams to deliver projects efficiently
Qualifications:
  • 3–5 years of WordPress development experience
  • Strong PHP skills and understanding of WordPress core architecture
  • Experience building or customizing WordPress themes and plugins
  • Experience working with custom fields (ACF or similar) and structured content
  • Comfortable debugging issues at the code level
  • Experience with Git/version control and modern workflows
  • Understanding of performance optimization and technical SEO
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a team environment
Nice to Have:
  • Experience with REST APIs and third-party integrations
  • Familiarity with hosting environments like WP Engine
  • Experience in an agency or multi-client environment
  • Exposure to modern JS frameworks
