About the Role
FareHarbor, a Booking.com company, is looking for a full-time Engineer with experience in PHP, JavaScript, WordPress, UX, design, accessibility, and modern web standards to join the FareHarbor.me team in our Denver office.
The FareHarbor.me team powers our managed website platform, which serves thousands of custom client websites. We're currently transitioning our platform to a Gutenberg-based theme architecture, and this role will play a key part in building the next generation of FareHarbor Sites - bringing together robust backend systems, a modern editorial experience, and scalable front-end design.
What you'll do here:
  • Write clean (S)CSS, HTML(Twig), JavaScript and PHP
  • Create and build user-facing features to be integrated on thousands of client websites
  • Work with project managers to create and build custom features for Enterprise client websites on occasion
  • Work with Photoshop, Sketch, and the like to mock up page elements, typography improvements, etc for our design framework
  • Review pull requests, and write technical documentation for our engineers
  • Help and share knowledge with other engineers
  • Help develop a robust design framework that enables easy superficial theming.

Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience working with large-scale production codebases and mission-critical systems.
  • Strong PHP knowledge.
  • Strong JavaScript knowledge.
  • Strong WordPress knowledge, including experience building custom plugins or themes.
  • Strong semantic HTML and CSS knowledge, including modern and legacy techniques for reusable components and layouts.
  • Good understanding of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
  • A keen eye for good web design and user experience.
  • Solid understanding of web fundamentals and performance best practices.
  • Experience with Twig templating is a plus.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
  • Motivated, hard-working, and able to lead by example.

Preferred Experience
  • Experience developing Gutenberg blocks or extending the WordPress Block Editor.
  • Familiarity with React, including building custom editor components or block interfaces.
  • Understanding of WordPress block-based theme development, including theme.json and block pattern systems.
  • Experience migrating or refactoring classic themes to a Gutenberg-based architecture.
  • Knowledge of block.json configuration, editor styling, and content synchronization patterns.
  • Experience with modern front-end build tools (Webpack, Vite, Babel, etc.) in a WordPress environment.
  • Passion for improving editor UX and enabling non-technical users to build beautiful, accessible websites.
  • Collaborative mindset - able to work closely with design, product, and engineering to shape the future of the FH.me platform.

Salary Range: $103,334 - $155,002, plus 10% bonus potential
