Job description

Excel Sports Management is an industry-leading sports agency representing top-tier talent, blue-chip brands and marquee properties. Our success is rooted in our people, our high character reputation and our commitment to creating a diverse and welcoming workplace. We focus on team chemistry, collaboration, strong relationships, valuable networks, and ambitious ideas to deliver innovative solutions that keep our clients and agency ahead of the curve.

Excel Sports Management is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE).

Position Summary: We are seeking a Senior Digital Designer, CMS (WordPress) to join our New York office. This role is design-led, with a strong emphasis on translating creative vision into polished, high-performing digital experiences. You will work at the intersection of design and execution—partnering closely with our Creative and Web teams to bring visually compelling concepts to life within WordPress and other CMS-driven environments. This is not a pure engineering role; success in this position requires a strong aesthetic point of view, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret and elevate creative direction.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design and build visually compelling digital experiences that reflect Excel's premium brand standards
  • Own the execution of WordPress-based sites and CMS-driven digital properties
  • Translate creative direction, wireframes, and design concepts into high-quality digital outputs
  • Collaborate closely with Creative, Social, Talent, and Brand teams to deliver engaging digital products
  • Partner with the web development team to ensure seamless functionality and performance
  • Maintain and optimize existing digital properties across the organization
  • Ensure all work adheres to strict brand guidelines and visual standards
  • Stay current on emerging tools and workflows, including AI-assisted design and development tools
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong organization and attention to detail
  • Maintain efficient workflows, structured file management, and clean handoffs

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Digital Design or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in digital design with hands-on CMS/WordPress execution
  • Experience within a major agency, media company, or sports-related organization preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating high-level digital design work across web and CMS platforms
  • Expert proficiency in WordPress (theme customization, page builders, CMS management)
  • Solid understanding of HTML5, CSS, and front-end best practices (executional knowledge, not engineering-heavy)
  • Experience with Figma and modern design collaboration tools
  • Familiarity with additional CMS platforms is a plus
  • Working knowledge of AI tools in design/development workflows
  • Strong understanding of layout, typography, and digital design systems
  • Ability to interpret and execute within strict brand guidelines
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • A design-first thinker with the ability to bring concepts to life digitally
  • Passionate about sports, culture, and building a career in the sports industry
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong aesthetic standards
  • Collaborative and comfortable working across multiple teams and stakeholders
  • Organized and capable of managing multiple fast-moving projects
  • Client-focused with a commitment to excellence and continuous improvement
  • Professional, reliable, and solutions-oriented

The pay range for this position is: $100,000- $120,000 per year. This position is also eligible for benefits and discretionary bonus.

Please note that the foregoing compensation information is a good-faith assessment associated with this position only and is provided pursuant to the New York City Salary Transparency Law.

Ultimately, the salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, business sector, and geographic location, among other criteria.
