Pacific Architectural Wood Products is seeking a skilled CNC Machine Operator to help produce high-quality architectural wood doors for the commercial sector. If you enjoy precision work, problem-solving, and operating advanced woodworking equipment, we'd like to hear from you.

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities

  • Machine Setup & Operation: Set up, align, and operate CNC machines to perform precision functions on wood materials. Load control instructions and review drawing/program specifications for sequencing.
  • Quality Assurance: Measure against exact specs using precision tools, fixtures, and templates. Perform quality control checks throughout production runs.
  • Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Listen to and monitor machine operation to detect malfunctions or tool wear. Calculate and adjust speeds, feeds, and cutting programs to maintain accuracy.
  • Maintenance & Tooling: Safely mount, align, change, and replace dull cutting tools. Perform general equipment maintenance and pre-set upcoming orders while machines run.
  • Material Handling: Manually or mechanically lift (using hoists/vacuum lifters), transfer, stack, and load materials and finished items.
  • Safety & Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, organized workspace, adhering strictly to plant safety protocols and wood dust housekeeping standards.

Key Skills & Capabilities

  • Technical & Mechanical Aptitude: Experience with operating CNC routers in a woodworking environment and using calipers, tape measures, templates, and quality inspection tools.
  • Critical Thinking & Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot machine errors, adjust code/settings, and correct issues on the fly.
  • Attention to Detail: High precision in watching gauges, reading specs, and inspecting finished work.
  • Communication & Teamwork: Effective verbal communication to collaborate with supervisors, operators, and maintenance.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, climb, stretch, reach, and lean to operate equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
  • Strong manual dexterity, finger dexterity, motor control, and visual accuracy at close distances.
