Job description

Basic Purpose
Responsible for constructing, erecting, installing and repairing structures and fixtures made from wood and other materials on residential or commercial property sites.
This position is responsible for all of the following:
  • Communicating with the Construction Supervisor, following instructions, and or working with blueprints as needed.
  • Completing layouts- measuring, marking and arranging materials in accordance with local specific building codes.
  • Cutting and shaping wood, plastic, fiberglass or drywall using hand or power tools such as chisels, planes, saws, drills, and sanders.
  • Joining materials with nails, screws, staples, or adhesives.
  • Completion of final checks of accuracy of work with levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and surveying equipment.
  • Completion of all necessary changes and adjustments required by Construction Supervisor.
  • Frame walls and partitions, put in doors and windows, build stairs, install cabinets and molding
  • Construction of wooden forms for pouring concrete or erection of scaffolding.
  • Following company safe work practices and procedures.
  • Completing all job-related tasks including clean up and tool maintenance as assigned by Construction Supervisor

Requirements:
  • Six (6) months related training/experience in construction industry is desirable
  • Extensive travel will be required
  • Must be able to read, speak and understand English for business purposes
  • Must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment background investigation including criminal record search, employment verification, and drug screen

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to stand, walk, climb stairs; use hands to finger, handle, grasp or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel or crouch; talk; hear.
  • Employees may be required to lift heavy objects up to 75 pounds with the assistance of a dolly and another employee.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
