Job description

Allen Organ Company is seeking a CNC Machine Operator-Wood Shop to join our team. The CNC Machine Operator-Wood Shop is responsible for operating the CNC machine(s).  This position is onsite at our location in Macungie, PA.  The hours are 7:30am to 4:00pm Monday through Friday. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate the wood CNC machine(s) according to specifications such as Thermwood router and Biesse CNC Woodworking machinery.
  • Set up jobs using existing computer programs.
  • Check for part specifications/measurement at set intervals during the shift.
  • Report any deviations to specs of machined parts to supervisor immediately.
  • Perform occasional operation of hand-held routers and other various shop tools is required.
  • Move scrap pieces of wood to the appropriate bin or work area after operation.
  • Must be able to read the sales order that follows the wood projects detailing the operational step from machine to machine.
  • Ability to use a tape measure and caliper so the operation at each station is accurate and matches the sales order.
  • Ability to visually look at the wood to identify knots or other defects so those pieces aren’t moved to the next step in the operation.
  • Cross train to other machines in the Wood Shop, as needed.
  • Must cooperate with other employees in the department to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Complete all required safety training.
  • Must follow all safety rules and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the plant.

  • Ability to read work orders.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 1 year’s experience operating a 3 axis flatbed CNC machine and using a computer with the machine.
  • Prior understanding of working with wood in a production setting is required.
  • Ability to stand during the shift.  Some reaching and bending of the upper body is required.
  • Must be able to work around dust within the work environment.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
  • Strong math skills are a plus.
  • Ability to work overtime if needed.
  • Ability to read measuring tools such as tape measure and calipers
