Job description

Are you passionate about working with young children? Whether you're advancing your career in early care and education, seeking a flexible work schedule, or transitioning toward retirement, substitute teaching with Wonderschool could be the perfect fit for you!

We are hiring Preschool and Daycare Substitute Teachers in Shallotte, NC and surrounding areas in Brunswick County. Wonderschool partners with local preschools and childcare centers to build a flexible substitute teaching platform - and we encourage you to apply!

What You'll Do as a Substitute Teacher:

  • Fill in for teachers on leave (vacation, illness, personal matters)
  • Provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning experience for children
  • Engage children in a variety of activities: educational games, arts & crafts, music, meals, outdoor play, and more
  • Work with a team of teachers, following the guidance of the onsite program director
  • Communicate with families about their child's day and progress
  • Complete a training and onboarding process with Wonderschool

Compensation & Incentives:

  • Earn $14-$18/hour, up to $144/day
  • $75 First Job Bonus - work within 30 days of completing onboarding
  • $250 Bonus at 40 hours - with CPR/First Aid certification complete
  • $200 Bonus - awarded for every 200 hours of substitute teaching
  • $250 Monthly Bonus - for completing 150+ hours within one calendar month
  • $250 Referral Bonus - for qualifying teachers
  • Reimbursement - for required training costs
  • Flexible Schedule  - Choose your working location, days, and hours! Shifts typically range from 4 to 8 hours, between 6 AM and 6 PM

Substitute Teacher Qualifications / Who You Are:

  • At least 18 years old
  • Experience in child care, teaching, or working with children ages 0-5
  • Patient, dependable, and excited to support young children as they learn and grow
  • Able to pass a state background check and complete a TB test / physical

Have one of the following:

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED;
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential;
  • EDU 119 Early Childhood Credential;
  • ECE AA or BA Degree;
  • 1+ years of experience working in a licensed childcare facility
