Description

We are searching for a fellowship trained vitreoretinal surgeon to join our retina practice. The position will be based in Spencer, Iowa. Our Spencer retina practice is well established and currently staffed by a senior retina specialist, who will be retiring soon. Our Spencer retina practice is part of our Central Iowa retina staff that includes 4 retina surgeons and 2 retina fellows. We have enjoyed a steady retina practice growth pattern and with the retirement of this very busy senior vitreoretinal specialist, we have an opening for a qualified, team oriented vitreoretinal specialist. The new associate can expect to see full clinics. Our Central Iowa vitreoretinal surgeons perform 9,000 intravitreal injections and 225 surgical cases each year. Our clinics utilize state-of-the-art ophthalmic imaging equipment and are staffed by experienced retinal imaging technicians. Referral relationships are well established with our organization and the successful candidate will be provided opportunities and assistance to continue to build & strengthen these relationships.

The Wolfe Eye Clinic is a physician-owned vertically integrated eye care practice that has been in operation for over 100 years. Our retina practice has been highly active in clinical trials and has an established retina fellowship program. This is a partnership track position. Our average physician compensation is typically in the top 10% nationally. Recently, our group of partners elected to not pursue private equity ownership. The practice has equal ownership across the physician shareholders and is managed on a democratic basis with one vote per physician. These arrangements have created an environment that all Wolfe Eye Clinic physicians have found appealing and equitable. For the successful candidate, this opportunity will prove to be both financially and professionally rewarding.

Spencer, Iowa is located on the edge of the highly desirable Iowa Great Lakes Region. This area is home to beautiful chain of glacier-carved lakes extending from the Minnesota border southwest several miles and covers approximately 15,000 acres. This provides many amenities that a vacation destination affords, from water sports to dining, golf to fishing, and other recreation opportunities. A great place to raise a family or to finish out a busy physician career.

Wolfe Eye Clinic is a multi-location, multi-subspecialty, high surgical volume ophthalmology practice. We are Iowa's largest ophthalmology clinic and have 30 ophthalmologists based in 13 main offices across the state. Our sub-specialists include 2 glaucoma, 6 retina, 3 cornea, and 1 pediatric/adult strabismus. We also have 10 anterior segment surgeons and 15 staff optometrists. We have an additional 9 optometrists based in primary eye care clinics. Wolfe Eye Clinic has always been committed to bringing the latest technology and treatments to the citizen of Iowa. Annually we see approximately 250,000 patients, and perform approximately 28,000 major surgeries and another 80,000 minor procedures. Our doctors work with a very skilled clinical support staff that allows them to concentrate on patient care and minimizes their time spent on related administrative duties or paperwork. Overall, we have a team of 450+ staff that are dedicated to bringing the most advanced eye care to the residents of Iowa.

Our Clinic has been in operation for over 100 years and all ophthalmologists, who have established careers here, have enjoyed a fulfilling practice both financially and professionally. Our Average physician compensation is typically in the top 10% nationally in each subspecialty. The practice has equal ownership across the physician staff and is managed on a democratic basis with one vote per physician. These arrangements have created an environment that all Wolfe physicians have found very appealing and rewarding.

We are searching for a highly motivated, fellowship trained, vitreoretinal specialist that is interested in joining a very busy practice with a large loyal referral base. The successful candidate will have demonstrated their ability to achieve goals through hard work and quality decision making. The professional should have strong surgical interest and skills and be eligible to obtain an unrestricted medical license in the state of Iowa
