Lead Forklift Operator

As the Lead Forklift Operator, your critical role involves ensuring the efficient and accurate handling of materials and shipments. You will be responsible for operating forklifts to move, locate, relocate, and stack products. Your duties include maintaining precise records of inventory and ensuring timely communication with team members to guarantee that orders are received, allocated, scheduled, routed, labeled, and shipped in compliance with company standards and client requirements. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in leading a team of warehouse staff, providing guidance, training, and motivation.
  • Load and unload tractor-trailers using a forklift; occasional hand-stacking may be necessary.
  • Utilize wireless RF scanning equipment to ensure accuracy of inventory.
  • Maintain high workplace performance and safety standards.
  • Ensure accurate product movements following shipping and receiving SOPs.
  • Meet/exceed warehouse KPIs and team goals.
  • Promote the safe use of warehouse equipment; handling and documenting work-related accidents.
  • Inspecting forklifts and other material handling equipment prior to use
  • Assist with inventories and cycle counts; ensure proper stock rotation.
  • Communicate problems, concerns, and ideas to management.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Forklift Certified.
  • Strong working knowledge of warehouse operational procedures.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and time management skills.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize projects and handle interruptions with a strong sense of urgency.
  • In-depth understanding of company best practices.
  • Prior experience using warehouse management software (WMS) and other computer applications.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including Office, Word, and Excel.

Job Requirements:

  • All candidates must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a forklift operator, often 3-5 years.
  • Previous experience in a lead or supervisory role is preferred.
  • Good attendance and punctuality: must show up on time and work scheduled shifts.
  • Must have the ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time.
