Ferguson is seeking the right individual to fill an immediate need for a Shift Manager in our Upper Marlboro Distribution Center. If you are a proven leader in warehouse management, order fulfillment, inventory control, process management, work-shift coordination, and are organized with great communication skills, this is the position for you!
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the workload planning, production, and execution of a fast-paced operation with the leadership and development of hourly associates and salaried leaders.
This position oversees a team of salaried and hourly associates working a 1st shift schedule from 6AM - 4:30pm (extended hours as needed / required).
In addition to the responsibilities above, you will:
  • Coordinate and ensure all safety and regulatory compliance in a proactive and positive manner
  • Lead all aspects of shift operations to include selection, shipping, receiving, down stock, replenishments, and trailer loading operations
  • Establish weekly operations plans to ensure all customer volume is processed in a timely manner
  • Champion employee engagement through coaching and development programs, promoting a positive and collaborative work environment while enhancing individual skills and career growth.
  • Lead through other leaders by coaching, developing, and holding managers accountable for their team's performance.
  • Set clear expectations for all managers regarding safety, productivity, quality, attendance, engagement, and operational standards.
  • Drive daily execution of the business plan by ensuring managers are aligned on priorities, staffing, workload, and shift goals.
  • Own overall shift performance and ensure operational metrics are met, including throughput, accuracy, service levels, and labor efficiency.
  • Conduct regular business reviews with managers to identify gaps, create action plans, and track follow through.
  • Develop future leaders by providing coaching, feedback, training opportunities, and career development support.
  • Create a culture of accountability where managers take ownership of decisions, results, and team performance.
  • Monitor and improve processes by identifying opportunities, removing barriers, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Be visible on the floor to understand operational challenges, support teams, and maintain leadership presence.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • 5+ years' management experience in supply chain distribution
  • Ability and availability to work extended hours as needed based on the needs of the business and the requirements of the assigned shift. Flexibility to support operational demands and adjust schedules when additional coverage is required.
  • WMS and LMS experience strongly preferred
  • Proficient in OSHA and DOT regulations
  • Project management experience desired (LEAN, KAIZEN, Agile)
  • Previous experience implementing employee engagement, mentoring and development initiatives
  • Prior experience in robotics, conveyance, and slotting equipment operation highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced distribution center environment, ensuring safety, efficiency, and accuracy in all tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to prioritize workload appropriately to balance multiple demands and meet timelines as required
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with senior leadership across multiple shifts to ensure alignment on strategic goals, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Champion safety and provide a first in safety culture

Pay Range:
$4,743.90 - $10,436.80
Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.
This role is Bonus or Incentive Plan eligible.
