Job description

About the role

HelloFresh is searching for an action-oriented servant leader  for our warehouse management system (WMS) Product Design and Software Engineering functions. This leader owns the full software delivery lifecycle for HelloFresh's global  warehouse fulfillment and inventory control domain - from architecture and product design through engineering execution, quality assurance, and operational reliability. You will drive a culture of product & engineering excellence, leveraging modern agentic tooling and AI-assisted workflows to increase team velocity, reduce defect escape rates, and accelerate deployment confidence.

You will collaborate closely with stakeholders across operations, automation/production technology, procurement, and finance to deliver innovative solutions on our strategic WMS platform - Infios's Warehouse Advantage (Korber/Highjump) - while balancing competing priorities and technical resource demand.

This location-flexible position can be physically based in any of our North America corporate offices or fulfillment centers with a hybrid working model, but must be flexible with work hour scheduling as teams and solutions are dispersed globally.

The Director of WMS Product Design and Software Engineering will work with key technology and product leaders across HelloFresh to enable the inventory management and control domain strategy, evaluate technology-related priorities, and translate stakeholder needs into actionable roadmaps. The ideal candidate combines impeccable management and communication skills with a practitioner's instinct for modern software delivery - knowing how to build high-performing teams, establish engineering health metrics, and integrate AI-assisted tooling that meaningfully accelerates quality and velocity.

  • WMS Solution Ownership: Provide technical direction, development oversight, and performance accountability for HelloFresh's deployment of Infios's Warehouse Advantage (Korber/Highjump) WMS platform across all global locations

  • Platform Architecture: Partner/ support as needed the Hosting Architecture team in the optimal sizing and performance of WMS Architecture in AWS
  • Agentic Engineering & Developer Productivity: Champion and drive adoption of agentic engineering practices across the team: automated code review tooling (e.g., AI-assisted PR analysis, static analysis agents, LLM-powered code quality gates), AI-augmented test generation and execution, and intelligent deployment pipelines. Measure and report the impact of these practices on delivery velocity and defect escape rate
  • CI/CD & Deployment Automation: Own the maturity roadmap for CI/CD pipelines. Establish automated deployment workflows with robust rollback strategies, feature flagging, environment-specific gate checks, and infrastructure-as-code practices - enabling high-confidence, low-friction releases across all WMS environments
  • Quality Engineering & Test Automation: Partner with WMS Services and Support leadership to build a world-class QA function. Drive adoption of automated regression suites, AI-assisted edge case generation, and contract testing for integrations. Push teams beyond happy-path coverage toward comprehensive scenario validation, including automated performance and load testing for peak fulfillment periods
  • Engineering Metrics & Continuous Improvement: Establish DORA metrics (deployment frequency, lead time for change, change failure rate, and mean time to restore) as the foundation of engineering health reporting for the WMS organization. Set baselines, publish improvement targets, and use metric trends to identify bottlenecks, prioritize tooling and process investments, and communicate engineering performance to senior leadership
  • Technical Roadmap & Architecture Governance: Partner with peers and senior leadership on architectural decision-making for WMS platform evolution, integration patterns, and technology transitions. Champion the use of structured design reviews to maintain coherent, scalable technical direction. Lead evaluations to refactor or replace legacy systems, including risk mitigation and transition planning
