Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to assist with the certification of Recovery Residences in compliance with HB 1411 (2016) legislation. A "recovery residence" is a dwelling unit or other form of group housing by any person or entity that provides alcohol and illicit free housing for individuals with substance use disorders. These residences are not clinical treatment facilities. However, residences may receive clinical services provided by other providers to address their treatment needs.\r\nThis position will perform field assessments of recovery residences going through the process of certification both initial and renewals. This position will support the Manager of the Maryland Certification of Recovery Residences. This position will work with the owners, staff and residents of the recovery residences to complete the certification process. Additional duties include tracking information for recovery residences in the certification process, sending out notifications on when the next renewal will occur. This position should be knowledgeable about the National Alliance of Recovery Residences (NARR) 2018 Quality Standards and use the quality standards to conduct on site field assessments.\r\nThis position plays a significant role in the mission of the Maryland Department of Health, Behavioral Health Administration, Policy and Planning Division. The mission of MDH's BHA is to develop an integrated process for planning, policy and services to ensure a coordinated quality system of care is available to individuals with behavioral health conditions. Through publicly funded services and support, BHA will promote recovery, resiliency and health and wellness for individuals who have or are at risk for emotional, substance use, addictive and/or psychiatric disorders. This position will ensure quality recovery residences are available for individuals on their path to recovery.\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. \r\nExperience: Two years of professional experience in assisting in the coordination of a health-related program(s) or referring people to governmental and private resources. \r\nNotes: \r\n1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. \r\n2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Care Administration classifications or Civil Affairs Specialist specialty codes in the health-related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education. \r\n

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

\r\nThe desired candidate should possess the following:\r\n\r\n\r\n Experience working with National Alliance of Recovery Residences (NARR) Quality Standards.\r\n Experience conducting onsite audit assessments and preparation of assessment reports.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
