Job Title: Field Test Engineer- OTA Testing

Location: Lewisville, TX (Onsite)

Project Details:

Connected Services Project, Global OTA and other connected services features. We are seeking a skilled OTA testing engineer to lead and execute vehicle connectivity and software update validation via OTA for Customer Field Trucks. The ideal candidate will have expertise in vehicle telematics, communication protocols and diagnostic tools to ensure seamless software updates in Trucks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for testing and validating connected Features testing in Bench, Customer Field Trucks at plants, validating software updates, firmware and ECU reprogramming.
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team for SW release timelines of various controllers and plan OTA testing on vehicles at plants.
  • Develop and execute test plans for wireless software updates.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve OTA update failures.
  • Identify Defects, log defects with logs and monitor/track in defect tracking system.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools (CANoe) to capture and analyze communication logs during OTA testing.
  • Ability to create OTA test packages & In vehicle Remote diagnostic testing
  • Work closely with software and backend teams to verify update integrity and rollback mechanisms.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of test cases, results, and issues for continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for reporting bugs in system, take part in triage calls to support defects and get it resolved.
  • Responsible for updating ECUs with SW's /Firmware via OBD Tools and via OTA
  • Hands-on experience with Automotive Network is a plus
  • Good understanding of Telematics Controller & OTA process is required.
  • Use CAN Bus Communication, monitor CAN Traffic and Understand CAN Node acknowledgements, Diagnostic messages priority.
  • Drive Requirements driven testing (100% Traceability Requirements, Development, Test, Defect)

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM or Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in OTA testing, vehicle telematics, or automotive software validation.
  • Strong knowledge of OTA architecture, vehicle networks (CAN, Ethernet), and automotive protocols (UDS, J1939, etc)
  • Hands-on experience with diagnostic tools (Vector CANoe) or Vehicle Spy
  • Experience working with heavy-duty truck electronic systems is a plus.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
