Job description

5G Wireless System Engineer
The Opportunity:
Work collaboratively with a team of researchers, developers, and telecommunications experts. Deploy and maintain small and large-scale telecom lab environments for testing and development. Troubleshoot UE network connection and registration issues via cellular network logs, Wireshark, and QXDM or UE logs. Configure and troubleshoot wireless communications systems using various RF hardware and software such as a spectrum analyzer, Software Defined Radio, and Wireshark to diagnose issues in layers 1-3. Perform vulnerability research, generate reports and brief findings, and contribute to the design of security solutions for mobile telecommunications systems. Leverage comprehension of telecommunications networks, next generation networking concepts, and protocol analysis to aid in vulnerability and security analysis. Apply knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, methodologies, and skillsets to consult with team members, clients, and leadership on vulnerability projects.
You Have:
  • Experience with virtual machines and containers to perform tasks including deployment or security analysis of said systems
  • Experience with DSP, GNU Radio, Matlab, and Software Defined Radio
  • Experience with Radio Test Equipment
  • Knowledge of layers 1-3 telecommunication protocols, architecture, and processes, including air interface protocols
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering and 4+ years of experience with mobile telecommunications or 8+ years of experience with mobile telecommunications in lieu of a degree

Nice If You Have:
  • Experience with cloud or containerized technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, OpenStack, virtualization, or software-defined networking
  • Experience with tools such as Gemalto, Smartjac, or pySim for SIM provisioning
  • Experience with Link Budget Analysis
  • Experience with Rooting or Jailbreaking phones of any generation
  • Knowledge of programming and scripting languages
  • Ability to review and confirm telecommunication call flows and RF captures via Wireshark or internal network logs for cellular network infrastructure
  • Possession of strong written and oral communication skills

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $77,600.00 to $176,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
