What is a wireframe in Figma?

A wireframe in Figma is a visual guide that represents the basic structure and layout of a digital product, such as a website or app, without focusing on color, typography, or detailed design elements. It helps designers and stakeholders outline the placement of content, navigation, and interface elements early in the design process. Using Figma, wireframes can be created quickly and collaboratively, allowing teams to iterate on ideas and gather feedback before moving to high-fidelity designs. Wireframes are essential for planning user flows and ensuring usability before investing time in detailed visuals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Figma wireframe designer?

To thrive as a Figma Wireframe Designer, you need a solid understanding of user experience (UX) principles, information architecture, and visual design fundamentals, often backed by a degree in design or related field. Expertise in Figma and familiarity with prototyping tools, design systems, and collaboration platforms are typically required. Strong communication, attention to detail, and openness to feedback help designers clearly convey ideas and iterate effectively with teams. These skills ensure that wireframes are user-centered, visually coherent, and align with project goals for successful digital product development.

How does a wireframe Figma designer typically collaborate with product managers and developers during a project?

As a Wireframe Figma designer, you will regularly work alongside product managers to understand user requirements and business goals, translating them into clear, interactive wireframes. Collaboration with developers is also key, as you'll need to ensure your wireframes are feasible and align with technical constraints. Expect frequent feedback cycles and design handoffs, often facilitated through Figma's collaborative features, to keep everyone aligned and ensure a smooth workflow from concept to implementation.

Job description

UI/UX Designer (AI-Forward)

Web & Mobile SaaS Platforms

Overview

TrapWire is seeking a UI/UX Designer to help design and refine the user experience across our SaaS web platforms and mobile applications. This role sits at the intersection of design and engineering, partnering closely with our product and development teams to translate ideas into intuitive, user-friendly interfaces.

We’re looking for a designer with strong fundamentals who has embraced modern AI tools as part of their workflow. The ideal candidate produces wireframes, mockups, interactive prototypes, and exported assets that engineers can implement against — and they get there faster than a traditional designer would because they know how to leverage AI alongside Figma and other established design tools.

Responsibilities
  • Design wireframes, user flows, and high-fidelity mockups for new and existing features across web and mobile applications. Produce and hand off production-ready assets — SVG vectors, exported components, design tokens, CSS variable specs, and motion notes — that engineers can implement directly.
  • Build interactive prototypes for validation, user testing, and stakeholder review.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers and engineering teams to translate requirements into clear, implementable designs.
  • Provide UX guidance and feedback during implementation to ensure final products match design intent.
  • Develop and maintain consistent design patterns and UI standards across the TrapWire platform.
  • Apply modern UX principles to improve workflow efficiency and usability.
  • Review existing UI implementations and recommend improvements for user experience and accessibility.
  • Work within an Agile environment, participating in sprint planning and design reviews.
Required Qualifications
  • 2–6 years of experience in UI/UX design for web and mobile applications.
  • Demonstrated experience creating wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI mockups.
  • Strong understanding of modern UX principles and usability best practices.
  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS and front‑end layout concepts — enough to communicate effectively with engineers and produce style specifications they can implement.
  • Experience integrating AI tools into your design workflow. This could include v0, Lovable, Cursor, Figma AI / Figma Make, Uizard, Framer AI, or LLMs (Claude, ChatGPT) used for prototyping, generating assets, or scaling design system work.
  • Proficiency with Figma (or equivalent design tool).
  • Experience collaborating closely with software engineering teams.
  • Ability to communicate design rationale clearly to stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator).
  • Familiarity with modern design systems and component-based UI frameworks.
  • Experience designing AI-powered product features (copilots, smart defaults, generative content).
  • Background in SaaS, B2B, or operational dashboards.
  • Experience in an Agile / Scrum environment.
About the role

US citizenship is a requirement for this role. Many of our customers operate in the national security space and require us to staff with US citizens only — this is a hard filter, not a preference.

Why Join TrapWire
  • Work on technology supporting security, intelligence, and operational awareness platforms.
  • Collaborate with a highly skilled engineering team solving real-world problems.
  • Opportunity to shape the user experience of mission-critical applications used by organizations across multiple sectors.
  • Competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package.

TrapWire is an equal opportunity employer.
