Salary: $15.00-19.00 Hr

Cable Wiring Specialist, Inc. (CWSI) provides a large suite of construction and engineering services for the Telecommunications and Fiber Optic communications industry. With a large workforce located throughout Florida, in tandem with a large fleet, the communication corporations continue to choose CWSI for our knowledge, workforce, quality of services offered and the ability to execute a job in a timely manner.


CWSI is accepting applications for Entry Level Fiber Splicer Technician to work out of the Melbourne, Florida Office. The role is multifaceted and provides career growth for the right candidate.


The employee is responsible for but not limited to:


Works as part of a crew or by him/herself depending on duty. Performs general fiber optic cable preparation work (to include physical labor i.e. using handheld tools, lifting materials on average up to 50 lbs., etc.) under direction of Foreman, Supervisor or Project/Construction Manager.

Prepares and fusion splice various types and sizes of fiber optic cable including ribbon cable.

Perform bi-directional OTDR testing, capturing and recording results.

Collect and interpret engineering documentation, to include network designs/schematics, fiber management systems and performance reports.

Perform power meter testing, collecting and reporting results.

Installing and dressing of fiber optic cables as directed.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Operates company trucks to transport materials and equipment to the job site.

Flagging as needed (directing safe coordination of vehicles and equipment within the general public areas where work sites are active).

Check the work zone throughout the shift to be sure items are still in their proper location and all safety devices are in place.

Will be on a rotating On-Call Schedule which is 24 hours per day while on schedule, and must be flexible to the schedule changes, and be available on Weekends and some Holidays.

Respond to trouble tickets within acceptable company time frame standards.

Work flexible hours that may include after-hours work, this could include nights and weekends.

Maintain a positive attitude and strong work ethics that can provide high productivity with minimal supervision.

Clean, maintain, stock and secure vehicles and equipment.

Work outdoors in all kinds of weather at any time of day or night.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:


Prior technical or field experience is preferred.

Stand for long periods of time at the job site, watch for road traffic, pedestrians safety, protect the public, equipment and employees.

Perform other work-related duties as assigned and the ability to comprehend and execute instructions as provided.

Ability to move and maneuver quickly to avoid danger.

Ability to work in varying outdoor environments at all times of the year.

Must be able to follow directions, maintain work quality, maintain safe working conditions/habits.

Must be able to demonstrate the ability to maintain positive working relationships at all levels both internal and external to the company.

High school diploma or recognized equivalent is required.

Excellent English oral, written communication and interpersonal skills are necessary.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred, but not necessary.

Strong PC skills are preferred but not required.

Ability to work in confined spaces.

SCTE certification is preferred but not required.

Requirements:


Must be 21 years old, or older.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States of America.

Must have a clean 10-year background.

Must be able to pass a background check including driving history.

Must be able to successfully pass a drug screen test and meet federal DOT requirements.

Must be willing to travel throughout the state as projects may require multiple overnight stays at a time.

Must be willing to be on a rotating On-Call Schedule which is 24 hours per day while on schedule, and must be flexible to the schedule changes, and be available on Weekends and some holidays.

Valid Drivers License with 3 years of driving experience. NO DUI, NO accidents, and a maximum allowance of 4 points within 5 years.

A high school diploma (or recognized equivalent).

The ability to comprehend prints is a plus.

The ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
