What is a wire tech?

Wire Techs, short for Wire Technicians, are skilled professionals responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing wiring systems for telecommunications, internet, and cable services. They work both indoors and outdoors, ensuring that customers have reliable and safe connections. Wire Techs often troubleshoot network issues, run cables, set up equipment, and educate customers about their service. This role requires technical knowledge, attention to detail, and strong customer service skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a wire tech?

To thrive as a Wire Tech, you need a solid understanding of electrical systems, wiring schematics, and safety procedures, often backed by a high school diploma or technical certification. Familiarity with tools such as wire strippers, multimeters, and cable testers, as well as knowledge of industry standards like the National Electrical Code (NEC), is typically required.
