Job description

Overview
VTG is currently seeking a Rigger at the Fleet Readiness Center at NAS North Island in San Diego, CA.
What will you do?
  • A Rigger assembles rigging to lift and move equipment or material in a manufacturing plant or shipyard, selects cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved, attaches pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures, such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms, with bolts and clamps, attaches load with grappling devices, such as loops, wires, ropes and chains, to crane hook, gives directions to Bridge-or-Gantry-Crane Operator or Hoisting Engineer engaged in hoisting and moving loads to insure safety of workers and material handled, using hand signals, loudspeaker, or telephone.
  • The Rigger also sets up, braces, and rigs hoisting equipment, using hand tools and power wrenches, splices rope and wire cables to make or repair slings and tackle, and may direct workers engaged in hoisting machinery and equipment into ships.

Do you have what it takes?
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience that includes Forklift and man lift (boom and scissor) experience is required.
  • High School Diploma.
  • Must be a US Citizen.

VTG's base pay range is $34.60 per hour which is a general guideline for the geographic location, work experience, education, skill level, and/or market considerations.
