Position Summary

The WIOA ISY Temporary Worker is a participant in NNCC's WIOA In-School Youth Program who is placed at an approved worksite to gain hands-on work experience while developing workplace readiness, professional skills, and career awareness. Participants work under the guidance of worksite supervisors and NNCC program staff while gaining practical experience that supports their educational and employment goals.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Work Experience

  • Complete assigned duties and projects at the designated worksite in a professional and responsible manner.
  • Report to work as scheduled and demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and appropriate workplace behavior.
  • Follow worksite policies, procedures, safety requirements, dress expectations, and supervisor instructions.
  • Communicate professionally with supervisors, coworkers, customers, and NNCC program staff.
  • Ask questions, seek feedback, and demonstrate a willingness to learn new tasks and skills.
  • Maintain appropriate workplace conduct, confidentiality, and professional boundaries.

Career & Skill Development

  • Develop and practice workplace skills, including communication, teamwork, problem-solving, time management, and responsibility.
  • Explore career interests and potential career pathways through hands-on work experience.
  • Apply skills learned through WIOA career-readiness and educational activities in the workplace.

Program Participation

  • Maintain active participation and eligibility in the NNCC WIOA ISY Program.

  • Maintain communication with assigned NNCC program staff regarding attendance, worksite experiences, concerns, and support needs.
  • Complete required timesheets, evaluations, and other program documentation accurately and on time.
  • Perform other worksite-related duties appropriate to the internship placement as assigned..

  • Must be an eligible and actively enrolled participant in NNCC's WIOA In-School Youth Program.
  • Must meet applicable WIOA ISY program eligibility and participation requirements.
