Description
SUMMARY:
The purpose of this position is to coordinate the operation of the Student Helpdesk (SSC Connect), providing Information Technology support to faculty, staff and students at tier 1 or tier 2 levels; conducting research related to software and/or hardware issues; and generating Helpdesk reports to management.
Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Works with other departments and/or outside sources to obtain Intern Technicians, schedule and assign staff as needed; maintain time and attendance records and forward to management.
  • Monitors and tracks helpdesk database, train and assign Intern Technicians, track Technician's progress, and manage and track assets such as hardware and software.
  • Provides IT support to faculty, staff, and students; receive and resolve trouble calls from users; dispatch Intern Technician to resolve trouble calls; assist students with on-line registration and portal issues; train users on hardware and software usage; write or revise user training manuals and procedures; troubleshoot hardware and software problems; and install or replace hardware as needed.
  • Installs commercial microcomputer software packages on end-user computers
  • Configures, changes, and installs hardware configurations as appropriate, and provides technical assistance and training.
  • Installs premise network cabling; both fiber and copper.
  • Interact with feeder high schools and vendors as needed; and offering mentoring; training of new student Helpdesk Technicians.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree in related network systems and/or related network job experience.
  • Three years of related work experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems and of current network hardware, protocols, and standards.
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy and practice laws.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal background check

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Extensive application support experience with Ellucian Colleague
STATUS/BENEFITS:
This is a Full Time Support Staff position for 35 hours per week. Board approval is required. The salary comes with the following employee benefits: $16,000 Annual Flexible Health Benefit, 12 Medical and 3 Personal Days Earned within First Year of Employment; 16 Holidays, 5 Winter Break Days, and 4-Day Summer Workweek.
