Job description

WinField United Senior Portfolio Manager

Position Purpose: WinField United’s growth depends on transformational innovation and our ability to become the top growth partner for customers navigating highly complex opportunities with multiple stakeholders, projects, and significant risk & investment. The WFU Senior Portfolio Manager is responsible for driving organizational success by managing key programs and processes that enable informed business decisions, foster innovation, and deliver measurable value. This role focuses on aligning cross-functional teams, optimizing resources, and implementing change initiatives to achieve strategic goals. This position ensures transparency, mitigates risks, and leverages data-driven insights to enhance performance and agility. With a strong focus on collaboration and adaptability, the position plays a critical role in delivering impactful solutions across the organization and WinField United’s key organic growth portfolios.

Position Responsibilities:

Strategic Portfolio and Program Leadership

  • Manage WFU’s key organic growth portfolios—Crop Protection, Seed, Crop Nutrients, and Go To Market Strategy—while aligning work to key stakeholders, strategic priorities, and business outcomes
  • Lead team of evolving project managers in alignment with the key organic growth portfolios. Improve processes, define performance metrics, and use data insights to monitor progress, scale best practices, and inform decisions
  • Drives the management of portfolio and project financials including budgeting, forecasting, & actuals tracking
  • Participates in budget development and evaluating how portfolio and project plan changes impact cost and schedule
  • Responsible for management of overall financial plan accuracy through collaboration with project leadership
  • Proactive collaboration with the enterprise portfolio team

Change Management and Risk Mitigation

  • Lead change initiatives that promote adaptability, innovation, continuous improvement, and successful adoption across teams
  • Identify risks, create mitigation plans, and optimize people, budgets, and tools to reduce barriers and maximize impact

Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication

  • Communicate clearly with stakeholders at all levels to build alignment, transparency, and support for key initiatives
  • Build cross-functional relationships and provide timely updates on progress, risks, and metrics to support accountability and informed decision-making

Experience & Education:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in portfolio and/or program management, process improvement, or leading strategic initiatives within a dynamic organization
  • People Leadership; this role will evolve to managing direct reports over time
  • Proven expertise in the listed areas of focus: Change Management, Process Improvement, Risk Management, Resource Optimization, and Program/portfolio Management
  • Strong understanding of program and portfolio management methodologies, tools, and techniques. Proven experience in managing a multi-faceted portfolio, developing program plans, coordinating interdependent projects, and managing program-level risks
  • Ability to align portfolio and program goals with organizational objectives and translate them into actionable plans. Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills to make informed decisions and prioritize program deliverables
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and align cross-functional teams
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent industry-recognized certification is nice to have

Compensation:

  • Base salary is dependent upon experience/tenure and generally ranges between $142,160 - $213,240
  • Target bonus is: 21%
  • In most cases, candidates offered employment can expect to be hired at a pay rate near the middle of our salary ranges.
