Winery Associate information

What is a winery associate?

Winery Associates are staff members who support the daily operations of a winery, often working in tasting rooms, assisting guests, and providing information about wines and the winemaking process. They may also help with sales, inventory, and events. Strong customer service skills and a passion for wine are important in this role. Winery Associates often act as the face of the winery, ensuring visitors have a memorable and educational experience.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a winery associate, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Winery Associate, you need a solid understanding of wine varietals, sales techniques, and customer service, often supported by prior retail or hospitality experience. Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems, inventory management software, and basic wine certification (such as WSET Level 1) is commonly required. Strong communication, teamwork, and an engaging personality help create memorable guest experiences and foster customer loyalty. These skills and qualities ensure efficient operations, knowledgeable service, and a welcoming environment that drives sales and brand reputation.

What are some common challenges winery associates face during peak seasons, and how can they effectively manage them?

During peak seasons such as harvest or major events, Winery Associates often experience increased workloads, longer hours, and a higher volume of customer interactions. Managing these challenges involves strong time management, adaptability, and teamwork with colleagues across production, tasting room, and sales. Proactively communicating with supervisors and supporting team members can help ensure smooth operations and a positive guest experience, even during busy periods.

Job description

Wine Server

Caduceus Cellars is a small family owned winery on the cusp of our bristling Arizona wine industry, where opportunities branch out in many directions. At the Caduceus Cellars Tasting Room in Jerome, where the wine is finally placed into the hands of the customer, we are the story-tellers of the evolving journey of our wines - from vineyard, to winery, through aging and bottling to the final arrival of the wine at the Tasting Room some years later, each one a time capsule.

As wine servers, we deliver exceptional customer service and tell that story while we pour tastes and serve items from our small plate menu which compliment the wine. These interactions often engender conversation with interesting people from around the world.

An eagerness to learn as well as listening to and interacting with people while keeping the flow of the Tasting Room in perspective are the priorities that lead to success in this endeavor.

Pay: $13/hr + Tips

Caduceus Cellars Tasting Room is an EEO/AA/Minority/Female/Disability/Veteran employer.
