Summary

We are looking for a customer service-oriented and operationally driven candidate to serve as a frontline associate at our cannabis dispensary. You will be responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and compliant environment for customers, staff, and inventory at the dispensary. You will monitor entry/exit points, deter theft and diversion, and ensure adherence to state cannabis regulations regarding security. You must be available to open and close the store before and after daily operations, ensuring the store is always clean and customer-ready. Dispensary Associates will comply with all state, federal, and local laws and IDFPR regulations. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitor and control access to the facility, verifying customer age and ID at entry
  • Patrol premises (interior and exterior) to deter theft, loitering, and unauthorized access
  • Monitor surveillance systems and alarm systems
  • Respond to and de-escalate disturbances, conflicts, or security incidents
  • Coordinate with local law enforcement when necessary
  • Ensure compliance with state/local cannabis security regulations (e.g., camera coverage, visitor logs, limited-access areas)
  • Assist with emergency procedures (evacuation, lockdown, medical incidents)
  • Other duties as assigned

When not serving as security as main function:

  • Operate as a cashier with mastery of the POS system and provide excellent customer service.
  • Serve as a host, being a welcoming first interaction for all customers entering the dispensary.
  • Intake deliveries from cultivators accurately, ensuring compliance with state rules and regulations.
  • Coordinate orders, manage staffing levels, and oversee bulk-to-shelf inventory.
  • Execute pick-and-pack operations, ensuring accurate and efficient fulfillment of orders.
  • Act as an ID scanner, verifying IDs and managing the customer line.
  • Other duties as assigned

Role Requirements

  • Prior security, law enforcement, or military experience preferred
  • Open Availability
  • At least 1 year in retail or hospitality industry using Point of Sales and basic computer skills, cannabis retail experience a plus
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Ability to obtain a dispensing agent identification card issued by the state of Illinois.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and ethical conduct
  • Exceptional customer service skills and Positive attitude, team player and strong work ethic
  • Must be and remain compliant with any and all regulatory requirements as they pertain to the industry, personnel law, safety regulations, local codes and organizational rules, regulations, directives, standard operating procedures, state and local laws for working in the cannabis industry
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to stand or walk for extended periods; use hands to perform manual, repetitive tasks; lift or move up to 10 pounds (or more with assistance); hear, understand, and communicate effectively while wearing a headset, and have the visual acuity to view screens and identify small product details, such as SKU numbers, with or without corrective lenses.
