Job Summary:
The Revenue Accountant is responsible for recording and analyzing commissions and revenue related to passenger cruise fares, shipboard revenue, and other ancillary revenue activities. This position ensures revenue and related expenses are recorded accurately, completely, and in the appropriate accounting period in accordance with Company policies and U.S. GAAP (ASC 606). The Revenue Accountant works closely with Shipboard Operations, Pursers, Voyage Leaders, Revenue Management, and other Finance teams to ensure the completeness and accuracy of revenue, commissions, and related costs. The position plays a key role in the monthly financial close process and supports the accuracy and integrity of revenue-related financial reporting.
Responsibilities
Revenue Recognition:
  • Adhere to Company policy and GAAP requirements in determining triggers for revenue recognition.
  • Timely communication with Pursers and Voyage Leaders to ensure completeness in both On Board revenues and cost of sales.

Monthly Financial Responsibility:
  • Prepare accurate journal entries for revenues, commission expense and cost of sales related to certain on board and add on revenues.
  • responsible for the monthly accrual of certain costs related to On Board and Add On revenues that ensures proper matching of revenues and expenses as well as the related accrual account reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly summary of journal entries.
  • Adhere to month end close schedule. Work is completed by 4th working day of each month.
  • Completion of spa and commission balance sheet account reconciliations during month end close.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • General Ledger experience of at least 2 years, revenue recognition a plus
