Job description

Position Summary and Responsibilities:

The SAP Delivery Manager is responsible for end-to-end delivery, governance, and continuous improvement of SAP initiatives and services across the enterprise. Manage with primary emphasis on SAP S/4HANA in a RISE environment (S/4HANA Cloud, private edition) hosted on Microsoft Azure. This role leads external delivery and partner resources (SAP, system integrators, AMS partners, and internal teams) to plan and execute SAP programs and projects, ensuring scope, schedule, budget, quality, and value realization. The SAP Delivery Manager serves as the primary point of accountability for delivery outcomes, stakeholder alignment, risk and issue management, and operational readiness, while operating effectively within the RISE shared-responsibility model. The individual will build and drive standardized delivery practices, strong vendor governance, and measurable business results. This position will be a hybrid role and located in our Downtown Fort Worth office.

Responsibilities:

  • Own end-to-end delivery for SAP S/4HANA operations, programs and projects, including planning, estimation, resourcing, execution, and transition to run/support.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to define scope, outcomes, and roadmaps; contribute to translating business needs into delivery plans with clear milestones and acceptance criteria.
  • Lead external cross-functional teams (S/4HANA functional, technical/ABAP, integration, data, security, infrastructure, and change management) using disciplined delivery practices (Agile, waterfall, or hybrid as appropriate).
  • Drive governance routines across SAP, system integrators, and AMS partners; ensure timely escalation and resolution of risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Coordinate solution delivery across RISE landscapes and environments (DEV/QA/PRD) for S/4HANA, including partnering with enterprise change and release management team members to plan maintenance windows, cutover planning, and hypercare readiness.
  • Plan and coordinate S/4HANA Cloud upgrades and release readiness, ensuring required preparations, stakeholder approvals, and post-upgrade validation.
  • Use SAP Cloud ALM and ITSM tooling to manage requirements-to-deploy traceability, test management, deployments, and operational monitoring.
  • Promote a clean-core mindset by favoring fit-to-standard and governed extensibility to reduce technical debt and improve upgradeability in the RISE delivery model.
  • Ensure quality management across the delivery lifecycle, including requirements traceability, testing strategy execution (SIT/UAT/regression), defect triage, and go-live criteria for end-to-end S/4HANA processes (e.g., inbound/outbound, picking/packing, replenishment, RF/mobile, and inventory).
  • Lead vendor and partner performance management across SAP, system integrators, and AMS providers, including contract/SOW alignment, deliverable acceptance, SLA adherence, service reviews, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with external SAP Operations/Support teams to ensure knowledge transfer, runbook creation, support model alignment, and post-go-live stabilization; coordinate priority incident handling and escalation paths (internal, AMS, and SAP) to restore service quickly.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 10+ years of experience leading SAP implementations, enhancements and daily operations in a delivery, program, project management capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP S/4HANA delivery, and deep technical knowledge of integration, security/roles, data, reporting/analytics, and SAP Fiori/BTP.
  • Experience delivering and operating SAP in a managed cloud model (RISE with SAP and/or comparable hosted environments), including working within a shared-responsibility framework and coordinating with SAP on incidents, maintenance windows, upgrades, and environment topics.
  • Experience partnering with Azure infrastructure, network, and identity teams to support SAP connectivity and controls (e.g., SSO/identity integration, network access, monitoring, and change windows) in alignment with the RISE operating model.
  • Familiarity with SAP operations toolchain and processes, including SAP Cloud ALM, SAP incident prioritization and escalation, service reviews, and KPI/SLA reporting.
  • Understanding of clean-core principles and governed extensibility approaches for S/4HANA (e.g., using SAP BTP and APIs/events for integrations and extensions).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage scope, schedule, budget, dependencies, and delivery quality across multiple workstreams and teams (internal and system integrators).
  • Strong governance and stakeholder management skills, including executive-level status reporting, RAID management, and change control.
  • Experience with delivery methods and tools (e.g., Agile/Scrum, waterfall, hybrid; MS Project, Azure DevOps/Jira, ServiceNow) and with structured cutover and release planning.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate complex SAP delivery topics in business-friendly terms.
  • Strong facilitation skills for workshops, backlog/requirements review, design decisions, and steering committee meetings.
  • Preferred certifications: PMP, PMI-ACP, Scrum Master, SAFe, and/or SAP Activate (or equivalent SAP delivery framework experience).
  • Availability to support critical delivery milestones (e.g., testing cycles, cutover, go-live, and hypercare) which may include after-hours or on-call support as needed.
