Job description

The glass technician/glazier is responsible for installing, repairing, and replacing glass in a variety of commercial and residential settings, including windows, doors, storefronts, and skylights. The role involves reading project specifications, measuring and cutting glass to fit, and ensuring installations meet industry standards. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, excellent hand-eye coordination, a commitment to safety, and is knowledgeable about/experienced with tools of all kinds.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Measure and Cut Glass: Accurately measure openings or glass specifications using tools like tape measures, calipers, and glass cutters.
  • Install Glass: Fit glass into windows, doors, display cases, storefronts, and other structures, using glazing tools, adhesives, and putty.
  • Repair and Replace: Remove broken or damaged glass and install new panes, ensuring a perfect fit.
  • Ensure Safety Standards: Follow safety procedures to minimize hazards during installation and removal, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Use of Tools and Equipment: Operate and maintain hand and power tools, including glass-cutting tools, drills, and lifts, to complete installations efficiently.
  • Client Interaction: Communicate with customers regarding project details, timelines, and care of installed products.


Qualifications:

  • Experience: 2 or more years of experience as a glass technician/glazier or in a related field is required.
