Senior Technical Consultant

Location: Germantown, Maryland

A Senior Technical Consultant will work as a part of the integration team to design, develop and implement deployment tools to distribute NCR solutions to retail clients around the world. Your role will be to help NCR development, architects and testing teams with the deployment of NCR and 3rd‑party software solutions. Creating reliable and consistent solutions for a large‑scale deployment is a key part of the company’s success.

Responsibilities
  • Installs equipment within all areas of retailer facilities including testing labs.
  • Implements audit, logging, and monitoring solutions of integration systems.
  • Performs quality assurance checks on all NCR equipment prior and after deployment.
  • Identifies and troubleshoots hardware and software issues.
  • Deploys NCR software based on project scope.
  • Demonstrates consistent deployment quality, following company guides and updating project documentation appropriately.
  • Displays excellent project and time‑management skills, efficiently managing task queue.
  • Completes and updates required documentation and adopts new NCR processes as needed.
  • Consistently displays commitment to team and clients, being an example to others regarding punctuality, client appointments and deployment deadlines.
  • Maintains composure even in stressful situations.

Qualifications
  • US Citizen.
  • Ability to pass a Public Trust background check.
  • Working knowledge of scripting languages such as PowerShell and VBScript or software development experience (C#.NET).
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft SCCM/IBM BigFix.
  • Strong analytical ability and problem‑solving acumen.
  • Expertise in Windows deployment, installation, configuration, administration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
  • Knowledge of Windows imaging technologies (WinPE, WIM imaging, or similar).
  • Understanding of internet standards such as HTTPS, DHCP, DNS, SFTP, HTML, XML, JSON and other protocols and IP communications.
  • Exposure to IBM BigFix for deployment and monitoring is a strong plus.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high‑pressure environment.
  • Strong problem‑solving and analysis skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Application development/engineering experience.
  • Mass deployment tools: SCCM, BigFix.
  • Database administration (SQLServer, MySQL, SQLExpress) setup, configuration and basic database troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience in capacity planning, system monitoring, and system security and hardening, including DoDSTIG.
  • Experience in the retail industry supporting retail customers is highly preferred.
  • Experience in scripting or programming languages used in automation and deployment (VBScript, JavaScript, Python, etc.).
