Low Voltage Cable Installation Technician Window Shades & Controls


Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Low Voltage Cable Installation Technician to support our team with the installation of low-voltage cabling and motorized window shade systems in both new construction and renovated interior spaces. This role involves performing technical installations, interpreting detailed drawings and wiring diagrams, and programming control systems that integrate with AV and lighting components.


Key Responsibilities

  • Install and route low-voltage cabling according to electrical code and project specifications
  • Drill access holes and utilize pockets or poke-throughs for wire pathways
  • Fabricate custom-length low-voltage leads; crimp and test all connections for integrity
  • Rough-in switch locations and mount device rings accurately
  • Program and service basic motorized shade systems and control switches
  • Interpret and work from complex instructions, blueprints, sketches, and wiring schematics
  • Troubleshoot and resolve low-voltage electrical issues in the field
  • Configure electro-shade systems, including setting limits and modifying programming
  • Integrate low-voltage systems with audio-visual or lighting controls

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 3 years of experience installing low-voltage cabling
  • Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
  • Experience integrating low-voltage wiring into AV and lighting systems
  • Competence in programming motor group controllers and servicing shade systems
  • Valid drivers license with a clean driving record
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Standard hours: Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (40 hours/week)
  • Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required based on project needs
  • Work performed on-site at construction and renovation locations.
