Position Summary:

The Maintenance Specialist will develop and retain a complete understanding of building structure, mechanical operation and components for assigned locations, diagnosis and completion of repairs as reported by location staff and/or as determined by on-site inspections. This position will complete necessary repairs or follow through with contractors to ensure completion of repairs. This position will require the ability to travel to sites in Dutchess and Orange counties.


Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm, with flexibility required according to business needs

Pay Range: $19.89-$22.89 based on experience



Responsibilities will include:

  • Complete monthly and quarterly site inspections.
  • Coordinate with sub-contractors and/or agency staff members to ensure maintenance of the location.
  • Complete work orders for assigned location.
  • Complete work orders as back up and/or for emergencies at agency locations.
  • Complete daily log of work including work time.
  • Perform typical repairs including but not limited to plumbing, electrical, building structural, snow plowing and shoveling tasks.
  • Moving offices, files and participant household belongings.
  • Maintain safe and efficient work areas at all times.
  • Will carry cellular phone and/or pager and respond to calls during all work hours.
  • Ensures all required trainings and certifications required are current, and seeks further support and training where needed.
  • Adhere to agency Code of Legal and Ethical Behavior, which require all employees, consultants, board members, volunteers and affiliates to perform their responsibilities according to ethical and legal standards with honesty, integrity, fairness, good faith and respect for others and the law.
  • Follows all agency policy and procedures and demonstrates continuous regard to personal safety and the safety of others.
  • Performs other appropriate job related activities as requested by your supervisor or as circumstances warrant.
  • Will incorporate CORE concepts of person-centered excellence by respecting people’s concerns and responding accordingly and will use “teachable moments” to assist people in understanding and exercising their rights.

Requirements:


  • Experience in all aspects of general building maintenance which will include but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliance repair & installation, grounds keeping, landscaping and snow removal.
  • Experience in preventive maintenance inspections and repairs.
  • Must be available to work on an Emergency on-call rotation.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must be able to effectively use technology such as smart phones and tablets to receive daily work orders and perform follow up documentation.
  • Must have proficient reading and writing skills.
  • Knowledge of job costing and trade license is preferred.
  • Must have a current NYS driver’s license, free of moving violations; deemed acceptable by our insurance carrier.
