Job description

Locum Physician – Cardiothoracic Surgery

Seeking an experienced Board-Certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon for a 3–6 month locum assignment starting February/March, with potential extension into 2026 and possible permanent hire. Coverage is needed due to LOA and provider departure.

Hospital-based inpatient role with responsibilities across OR, ICU, ER, and floor rounding. Level I Trauma Center. Average 2 cases per day. 3 operating rooms. Full ancillary staff support. Adult and geriatric patient population. EPIC EMR.

Monday–Friday: 6:45 AM – 5:00 PM. Night and weekend call required (approx. 7–8 calls/month). Call shared among 3 providers.

CABG (on-pump and off-pump). Redo coronary revascularization. Heart valve repair/replacement (including Mitral Valve). CoreValve® system. Thoracic & descending aortic aneurysm repair. Arterial revascularization (IMA, radial, gastroepiploic). Tube thoracostomy & pericardial window.

Estimated timeframe: 30–45 days.

Board Certified – REQUIRED. Active Connecticut license only – REQUIRED. BLS & ACLS – REQUIRED. Local provider only (mileage reimbursement only). Must follow rate structure and conversion cap.
