Job description
- Leads by example each day in key areas – EHS, quality, productivity, housekeeping and attendance.
- Provides feedback in the form of counseling and recognition for positive performance and development opportunities.
- Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules daily.
- Identifies future staffing/equipment needs for the budgeting process.
- Provides leadership in sustaining defined processes and resolving issues.
- Maintains time and production records daily.
- Ensures the overall integrity of work produced by the line.
- Develops, recommends and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
- Prepares and presents communications to their team members and other members of management regarding daily expectations for production, quality, EHS, housekeeping and other key measures as well as general information required to keep all employees informed.
- Maintains the overall safety of employees in the assigned work area by reporting all hazards/issues, leading and participating in EHS incident investigations and follow-up, ergonomic and hazard assessments etc.
- Provides corrective action to address attendance, conduct, or performance issues with their employees, to include conducting investigations, providing documentation and recommending further courses of action to other members of management as necessary.
- Assesses individual training needs, including cross-training and job rotation plans of their employees and works with group leader to provide needed on-the-job training and coaching. Where necessary, the Inventory supervisor may also provide hands-on process instruction and new employee orientation.
- Identify staffing needs, interview, and recommend employee selection, document in a timely manner.
- Is consistently at work and on time; Arrives at meetings and appointments on time; Commits to long hours of work when necessary to reach production schedule/goals.
- Promotes a harassment-free environment. Ensures consistency between lines in application of employee relations policies and procedures for all inventory employees, e.g. overtime administration, layoff/recall procedures, attendance tracking, etc
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
- Wears required safety equipment including but not limited to; hearing protection, safety glasses, and steel toe footwear.
- Must maintain clean, organized work area. Ensures housekeeping of work area is acceptable for next shift.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret common technical journals and financial reports.
- Efficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to define and resolve problems in a timely manner.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Good rapport and communication skills with all levels in the organization.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Pass drug screen.
- Pass pre-employment tests.
- Pass pre-work ability/ modified functional capacity screen, if required for position.
- Successful completion of pre-screen testing (mechanical, following instructions, numerical computation), if required for position.
- At least three (3) years of related supervisory experience, training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Manufacturing related experience is preferred.
- Job specific experience is preferred.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Decision making / problem solving in a manufacturing environment with minimal supervision.
- Use of hand tools and machinery is required.
- Requires above average communication skills and the cognitive ability to learn the safety, quality, and productivity standards.
- Familiarity with American units of measure for weight, time, and distance.
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
