Overview

Altura, LLC is a professional services firm that improves energy, environmental, and financial performance across the building sector. This role seeks an experienced energy/commissioning engineer to drive projects that deliver measurable value for our clients through deep technical expertise and strategic vision.

Scope & Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple client projects for new construction and existing buildings, including client interface, team coordination, business development, and schedule & budget management.
  • Perform field work such as site audits, systems testing, troubleshooting, and development of energy improvement measures.
  • Oversee and execute testing protocols to verify operating energy performance as part of the overall commissioning process.
  • Perform technical analysis to support development and verification of energy savings for buildings and organizations.
  • Leverage data analytics to support engineering and commissioning processes.
  • Interface with the industry through conferences, publications, and online communities to influence best practices and advance the profession.
  • Lead and run new construction and existing building energy and commissioning projects or support significant portions of projects with minimal oversight.
Tasks include
  • Energy Projects โ€“ develop energy savings projects; conduct site energy audits; analyze and calculate the performance of energy conservation measures; perform measurement and verification of savings; use analytical tools (SkySpark experience preferred).
  • New Construction Commissioning Projects โ€“ project management; design reviews; submittal reviews; commissioning documentation coordination; functional testing; SkySpark-driven analysis.
  • Existing Building Audits and Commissioning Projects โ€“ project management; ASHRAE Level 1 & 2 audits; field testing; SkySpark-driven analysis; project presentations; bid document development; implementation support; measurement & verification.
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of engineering experience, preferably in mechanical, with building energy engineering (MEP and controls), energy projects, commissioning, and project management.
  • 5+ years of project management and client lead experience.
  • Technical proposal and business development experience.
  • Experience managing, mentoring, and coaching direct reports to build high-performance culture.
  • Exemplary analytical and problemโ€‘solving skills in energy and commissioning performance.
  • Demonstrated success delivering complex, custom project scopes for commercial, healthcare, and institutional clients.
  • Experience linking a wide range of energy and environmental indicators to business financial metrics.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in engineering or related discipline.
  • Critical thinker and effective listener, communicator, and writer.
  • Excellent technical writing skills.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
