Job Opening: Utility Vegetation Management Planner
Location: Milpitas, CA
Type: Full-Time | Office & Field-Based
About the Opportunity:

Kaleidoscope Supply Services is an administrative support services organization supporting a top-tier vegetation management contractor serving the electric utility industry. Our mission is to maintain safety and reliability across utility corridors while supporting wildfire prevention efforts throughout California. Weโ€™re hiring a Utility Vegetation Management Planner to support a key customer territory in Milpitas (supporting PG&E service districts).
What Youโ€™ll Do:

As a Planner, you'll coordinate field operations related to tree trimming and vegetation clearance around PG&E infrastructure, which includes working directly with end customers/residents to resolve scheduling challenges. You will interact with property owners, utility partners, crews and back-office administration to ensure compliance, efficiency, and safety.ย  Planners are expected to work both in the office and in the field as necessary to ensure the work is cleared for crew execution on the scheduled dates.ย  Depending upon how work is released, planners may often spend more time in the office or field depending upon the assignments.
Primary Responsibilities:

ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Conduct systematic office and field reviews of issued work for line clearance operations.
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Develop detailed vegetation work plans for tree pruning, removals, and herbicide applications.
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Communicate with landowners to discuss access, schedule work, and gain necessary permissions.
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Troubleshoot and resolve planned and/or unplanned work variances including wood hauls, etc.
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Ensure all vegetation work complies with safety, regulatory, and utility standards.
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Record and track progress using GIS tools and mobile platforms.
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Liaise with customers, businesses, and government contacts on scope, access, and scheduling.
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Navigate urban and wildland environments in all weather conditions.
ย Minimum Requirements:

ยทย  ย  ย  ย  3+ years in arboriculture, horticulture, or vegetation management OR a degree (2-year or 4-year) in a related field.
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Valid driverโ€™s license and clean driving record.
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Proficiency with GIS, digital mapping, mobile apps, and Microsoft Excel.
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Strong communication skills and professionalism with customer interactions.
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Able to work independently in varied terrain and environmental conditions.
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Reliable transportation to assigned reporting location.
Preferred Qualifications:

ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Experience with utility vegetation management, GO95 compliance, or wildfire mitigation.
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Certification(s): ISA Certified Arborist, Utility Specialist, TRAQ, CTSP, or OSHA-30.
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Familiarity with PG&E or SMUD vegetation clearance standards.
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Experience with Traffic Control permitting and setups.
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Experience with MUTCD application.
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Experience with State and Local Municipalities for Traffic Control Permitting.
