Position Title: Wig Build TechnicianDepartment: Wigs, Hair & MakeupPosition SummaryThe Wig Build Technician is responsible for building and styling all wigs under supervision of the Shop Manager per designs from the Wig Designer. Essential FunctionsWill be required to ventilate, alter, repair, and style wigsShould have working knowledge of hair styles including period, modern, and fantasy.Adhere to all rules and regulations required by the Actor's Equity Association, including Covid-19 additions.Adhere to and promote all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and maintain a safe work environmentContributes to the overall success of the Production Department by performing any additional duties and responsibilities assignedQualifications / Skills / AbilitiesAbility to ventilate and re-front wigs as well as adding/removing weft. Knowledge of roller sets and hair styling techniques.Knowledge of facial hair styling, preferred.Knowledge of classic marcel.May need to create wig styles over the top of wig cages.Ability to collaborate with the wig team as well as other departments.Ability to listen, take instruction, and work with performers and staff in a positive and professional manner while on campus at all timesAbility to work under tight deadlines in a fast paced environment.PreferredAt least 1 years of professional work experience in a live theatrical environment as a Wig Builder or equivalent educational experience.Cosmetology license (Not required) Housing is provided.
