Job description

Premium Color Group is seeking an experienced, hands-on Wide Format & Digital Print Department Manager to oversee the daily operation of our wide format, digital print, and finishing department.

This position is ideal for someone with strong print production experience who is comfortable managing people and schedules while also being willing to step in and operate equipment when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily production schedule for the Wide Format and Digital Print departments.
  • Supervise, direct, and support department employees.
  • Prioritize jobs to meet customer deadlines and production requirements.
  • Coordinate workflow between printing, cutting, and finishing operations.
  • Monitor job quality, productivity, and department efficiency.
  • Work closely with Customer Service, Estimating, Prepress, and other production departments.
  • Ensure equipment is properly maintained and preventive maintenance is completed on schedule.
  • Coordinate service calls and repairs directly with equipment manufacturers and technicians.
  • Troubleshoot production, equipment, and workflow issues.
  • Maintain an organized, safe, and productive work environment.
  • Help operate production equipment when workload or staffing requires it.
  • Monitor materials and supplies and communicate purchasing needs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve throughput, reduce waste, and improve overall department performance.

Equipment in the Department

Our department includes:

  • EFI high-speed wide format flatbed printers
  • Kongsberg digital cutting tables
  • Ricoh production digital presses
  • Guillotine cutting
  • Folding, scoring, and booklet-making equipment
  • Additional digital print finishing equipment

Experience with EFI, Kongsberg, Ricoh, or similar production equipment is a strong plus, but experience managing a comparable commercial printing operation is equally important.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in commercial printing, wide format printing, digital printing, signage, packaging, or a related manufacturing environment.
  • Previous supervisory, lead operator, or production management experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of print production workflow and scheduling.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot equipment and production issues.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple jobs and changing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Comfortable working directly with equipment manufacturers and service technicians.
  • Working knowledge of quality control and preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Hands-on attitude and willingness to assist the production team when needed.
