Job description

Job Summary:
Applying protective coatings for many different applications including Power Plants, Factories, Water Treatment Plants, and other industrial projects. Our Coatings Division offers the highest knowledge in industrial field painting – from surface preparation, coating application, cement mortar lining, concrete resurfacing, and specification design to installation and safety compliance.

With Industrial Coatings, you'll prepare the proper chemicals and equipment to coat the interior/exterior of industrial tanks, carbon steel water tank reservoirs, reclamation facilities, pipes, and structures. You understand that in order for the coating to adhere to the prepared surface, you need to abrasively blast the working surface. You then apply special coatings via airless and plural component spray equipment like a skilled craftsman!

Responsibilities:
  • Use a wet film thickness (WFT) gauge for coating applications, as it is mandatory for all painters.
  • Inspect and evaluate surfaces to identify imperfections, defects, or damages.
  • Remove old paint, dirt, or debris using appropriate methods such as sanding, scraping, or pressure washing.
  • Repair cracks, holes, or other surface imperfections using filling materials, caulking, or putty.
  • Apply masking materials to protect adjacent areas from paint overspray or drips.
  • Mix and match paint colors according to project specifications and client preferences.
  • Apply primer, paint, and other coatings using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment, ensuring even and smooth coverage.
  • Monitor drying times and apply additional coats as needed, ensuring proper adhesion and finish.
  • Clean and maintain painting tools and equipment to ensure longevity and proper functioning.
  • Dispose of waste materials and solvents in accordance with local regulations and company guidelines.
  • Leave the worksite clean and debris-free upon completion of each project.
  • Concrete resurfacing of concrete structures.
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience in painting and sandblasting.
  • 1+ years of experience in cementitious waterproofing coatings.
  • Must be capable of working in confined spaces with access points as small as 24 inches.
  • Experience with industrial tanks, carbon steel water tank reservoirs, and reclamation facilities.
  • Ability to use hand tools such as trowels and spray guns.
  • Familiarity with SSPC-Surface Preparation and NACE Abrasive standards.
  • Ability to identify and achieve SP-1,2,3,5,6,7,10,11,13,15 standards.
  • Capability to blast 150 sq/ft to an SP-10 in 1 hour.
  • Must be able to work 50 hours a week.
  • SSPC Certification or any type of AMPP Cert. is a plus.
  • OSHA 10 is a plus.
  • Confined space certification is a plus.
  • Have reliable Transportation and Valid Driver's License.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
