WHAT THIS ROLE WILL BE DOING:

Summary: The Taylor Craftsman Apprentice is responsible for learning the operation to ensure we are manufacturing products to the highest quality expectations for our customers. It is the responsibility of the Craftsman Apprentice to learn the vernacular associated to our orders. They will also need to be aware of all production goals and anticipate problems that could impact long term goals, including quality control and establishing high standards of workmanship. To be effective, an individual will need to learn the construction of our doors, be eager to learn, and demonstrate the ability to make safety and quality our top priorities.

Duties to include:

  • Assemble steel doors.
  • Pre hang prep and build: Employees will be expected to stuff weather strip, preassemble component bags for units, utilize battery power drill with 3/8'' chuck to apply components to the pre hang unit.
  • Assemble Wood edge doors and side lites.
  • Fiberglass door assembly.
  • Apply adjustable hinges to fiberglass doors.
  • Drill line: Load and unload door carts, inspect doors, apply fire labels, rivets, and support packaging requirements on the line.
  • Consistently demonstrates and incorporates principals of safety for self and others into daily activities.
  • Develops and maintains a clean, safe working environment.
  • Maintain production pace, while meeting daily production goals
  • Use of, battery powered drill with a 3/8'' chuck.
  • Performs all duties in a manner that promotes team concept and encourages team effort

Production Positions Demonstrates Ability to:

  • Ability to read paperwork, interpret instruction and exercise good judgment
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure
  • Ability to read a tape measure
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems

Work Duties DO NOT include:

Working with any hazardous substances, chemicals, explosives, or radioactive materials.

Operating powered industrial equipment.

Chop saws, nailers, table saws, drill presses

Education / Experience: Completed CA-7 work permit.

Working Demands / Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand/bend-twist/lift/walk for long periods of time
  • Work 10 hour shifts.
