Position Summary:
Henkels & McCoy is looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to be responsible for all payroll-related tasks. The Payroll Specialist's responsibilities include collecting and reviewing employee information and working hours, calculating wages, preparing and processing employee payments, and maintaining accurate payroll records.
To be successful as a Payroll Specialist you should be able to investigate and resolve payroll issues and ensure strict compliance with company and regulatory standards. An outstanding Payroll Specialist should also have excellent people skills and high numerical aptitude.
Responsibilities
Major Job Elements:
  • Understands the major business components and implications specific to Union, Non-Union, Exempt and Hourly Employees
  • Supports the Payroll Team by preparing payroll related journal entries for period-end
  • Compile and submit payroll deductions related check requests and payments

Responsibilities:
  • Collecting timesheet data and payroll information
  • Entering data into JDE and tracking spreadsheets
  • Calculating wages, benefits, tax deductions, etc.
  • Preparing and processing paychecks and direct deposits
  • Maintaining accurate records of payroll documentation and transactions
  • Preparing and distributing income statements
  • Responding to payroll-related inquiries and resolving concerns
  • Performing account balance and payroll reconciliations
  • Preparing financial reports for accounting and auditing purposes
  • Preparing periodic payroll reports for review by management

Qualifications
Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two or more years of experience working in payroll or a similar role
  • Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and payroll
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite proficiency, especially Word and Excel
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • High numeric aptitude
  • Detail-oriented, quick learner, and able to work independently with little direction

Hourly Range: $22.00 - $32.00 hourly / DOE
