Primary Care Behavioral Health Integration (PCBHI) Psychologist

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine have defined high-quality primary care as the provision of whole-person, integrated, accessible, and equitable health care by interprofessional teams. Evidence supports the effectiveness of integrating behavioral health programs into primary care to achieve patient-centered outcomes. Wellstar Health System is dedicated to high-quality primary care, exemplified by the creation and implementation of the innovative behavioral health integration program, Wellstar Collaborative Advantage.

We are currently seeking a Psychologist to join our team as a Behavioral Health Consultant in the Primary Care setting. The Behavioral Health Consultant will bring expertise in evidence-based screenings, risk assessments, and brief interventions. This role involves collaborating with a team of psychiatrists, psychologists, and other behavioral health professionals, receiving input and direction to inform clinical decisions. The consultant will also engage in consultations with medical professionals to ensure coordinated patient care. Responsibilities include supporting patients in accessing community resources for specialty mental health and providing interventions across the lifespan. Join us in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care through the Wellstar Collaborative Advantage program.

Required Minimum Education:

  • Experience working in the ambulatory setting or in a hospital setting is preferred.

  • Doctoral Degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an accredited program is required.

  • Current Georgia License as a Psychologist is required.

  • Three years' experience in a health-related field, mental health, and behavioral health is required for this position.

Required Minimum Skills:

  • Crisis Intervention, brief evidenced based interventions and experience working with patients using the biopsychosocial model.

  • Possesses emotional maturity, interested in learning and teaching, and comfortable in fast-paced environments.

  • Demonstrates ability to work with patients across the lifespan.

  • Demonstrates ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team.

  • Possesses experience with evidenced based brief interventions.

  • Possesses knowledge of developmental characteristics (physical, psychosocial, intellectual) of people of all ages, economic backgrounds and cultural backgrounds.

  • Demonstrate basic use of Windows, Outlook and Microsoft Office.
