Job Description:
Actuarial Intern - Summer 2027
Location: Indianapolis, IN.
This role requires associates to work from the posted locations full-time, enabling consistent face-to-face collaboration, teamwork, and direct engagement. This policy promotes an environment built on in-person interaction, communication, and immediate support. Please note that per our policy on hybrid/virtual work, candidates not within a reasonable commuting distance from the posting location(s) will not be considered for employment, unless accommodation is granted as required by law.
The Actuarial Intern is responsible for supporting and working on a variety of actuarial projects and tasks. Actuarial Interns will also receive an orientation to the company and the health benefits industry, be exposed to the practical application of actuarial projects and processes at Elevance Health, and can work with other accounting, finance, actuarial, and operational areas within the company.
The Actuarial Internship program is a 12-week, full-time program running from May 17th, 2027 - August 6th, 2027. Summer housing is provided. End-date flexibility is available to accommodate university commitments.

  • Contribute to meaningful actuarial projects across business areas, including healthcare cost analysis and trend projection, valuation, risk quantification, and health insurance pricing, while applying analytical skills to real healthcare challenges.
  • Develop and strengthen your technical, analytical, communication, and business skills.
  • Learn directly from actuarial professionals, leaders, and senior management.
  • Gain exposure to the practical application of actuarial methods, tools, and processes at Elevance Health.
  • Participate in educational sessions, discussion panels, and other opportunities to learn more about the healthcare industry and Elevance Health.
  • Connect with fellow interns and colleagues through networking, social, and volunteer events.
  • Present a key project and your findings at the conclusion of the internship.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in a BA/BS degree program in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or other related degree.
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week for the duration of the internship (5/17/27-8/6/27) on-site at our Indianapolis, IN PulsePoint.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and leadership abilities through academic, extracurricular, professional, or community experiences.
  • An interest in the actuarial profession and in contributing to the healthcare industry.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with one or more analytical or programming tools such as R, Python, SAS, SQL, or VBA.
  • Interest or experience using AI-enabled tools for analysis, automation, or productivity.
  • Progress toward actuarial credentials. Candidates who have passed at least one actuarial exam and/or have prior relevant internship or professional experience are especially encouraged to apply.
  • A graduation date of Dec 2027 or May 2028 is preferred, but not required. All graduation dates will be equally considered.
