Wellness Program Coordinator Jobs in Spring Valley, NY

Summary: The Supervising Program Coordinator oversees the daily operations of the Drop-In Center and ensures a safe, welcoming, engaging, and inclusive environment for young people. The position provides direct supervision to Youth Services Aides, supports youth development
and empowerment, ensures compliance with program policies and funder requirements, and collaborates closely with the Assistant Director and program leadership team to address the needs of homeless, unstably housed, and street-involved youth. The Supervising Program Coordinator interacts with all Streetwork staff, internal Safe Horizon programs, and community partners to ensure coordinated and high-quality services for young people.

• Utilize a trauma-informed, client-centered, harm reduction, and anti-oppressive approach in all interactions with youth and staff.
• Provide direct supervision, coaching, guidance, and support to Youth Services Aides.
• Ensure a safe, welcoming, respectful, and inclusive drop-in environment for all youth, staff, visitors, and community partners.
• Build positive and supportive relationships with homeless, unstably housed, and street-involved youth.
• Support youth engagement by encouraging participation in services, activities, leadership opportunities, and community-building initiatives.
• Empower young people through skill-building, self-advocacy, goal setting, and positive youth development practices.
• Oversee daily Drop-In Center operations and ensure compliance with program policies, procedures, documentation standards, and funder requirements.
• Monitor the cleanliness, organization, safety, and overall functionality of the drop-in space.
• Ensure youth have access to daily living necessities, including food, clothing, hygiene supplies, showers, laundry services, and space for respite.
• Coordinate and oversee recreational, educational, wellness, and life-skills activities that respond to the interests and needs of young people.
• Plan, organize, and facilitate special events, workshops, and community-building activities for youth.
• Create and coordinate social media and digital content to promote program services, events, resources, and youth engagement while maintaining confidentiality and organizational standards.
• Work collaboratively with the Assistant Director to identify program needs, enhance services, address operational concerns, and support program goals.
• Assist with intake, assessment, referrals, crisis intervention, and emergency situations in coordination with the Supervising Social Worker and Assistant Director.
• Provide conflict mediation, de-escalation, and crisis support as needed.
• Coordinate with Housing Navigators, Benefits Coordinators, Case Managers, and external partners to connect youth to housing, benefits, resources, and supportive services.
• Support youth with transportation and accompaniment to appointments when appropriate.
• Maintain a strong presence within the drop-in space and model accountability, and positive youth engagement.
• Participate in weekly case conferences, team meetings, supervision, and clinical group process meetings.
• Complete administrative responsibilities, including documentation, reports, incident reporting, scheduling, correspondence, email communication, data entry, and record maintenance.
• Participate in staff training, professional development opportunities, and program-wide initiatives.
• Collaborate with Safe Horizon programs and external service providers to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for youth.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with direct service to similar populations, or a minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience working with homeless youth required, or at least 2 years of experience working at Streetwork;
• 1-2 years’ experience supervising or managing staff.

Required:

• Experience with LGBTQ, homeless and street-involved youth populations
• Experience with supervising or managing staff, and/or providing program leadership
• Ability to foster a welcoming, inclusive environment while maintaining accountability and strong communication.
• Ability to effectively manage conflict and respond to crisis situations in a trauma-informed manner.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail.

Preferred:

• Knowledge of homeless youth services and resources
• Spanish-speaking skills
