Assistant Director, Well-being Engagement
City: West Lafayette
Job Description:
Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Well-Being Engagement will work collaboratively with Well-being Programs colleagues with limited supervision from the Senior Assistant Director for Well-Being Engagement to develop, oversee, and administer educational, comprehensive, and progressive student wellness programs and initiatives. Primary focus will be on physical, emotional, and social well-being. Core programs of oversight include wellness coaching and peer education. The position will be expected to advocate for, enable, and help mediate action to ensure a culture of well-being. The position will be responsible for fiscal planning and management, assessment, staff development, program outreach, and continuously implementing evidence-based improvements to best serve students and the community. Some evening and weekend work required.
What We're Looking For:
  • Bachelor's degree in health education/promotion, public health, wellness management or related field
  • Experience promoting health and wellness messages and programming to the college-aged population.
  • Can consider professional internship and/or graduate assistantship experience.
  • Certified wellness coach or ability to earn certification within one year of hire.
  • Ability to offer leadership, vision, and strategic planning that will contribute to programming a diverse offering of wellness activities that meet the changing needs of the university community.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, manage, and develop a wide variety of student staff positions, such as wellness coaches and peer educators.
  • Ability to develop students' leadership, communication, conflict resolution, organizational, and teamwork skills.
  • Must show ability to establish long and short term goals consistent with the mission of the university and the division.
  • Must show ability to build, develop, and cultivate relationships across campus with a variety of constituents.
  • Self-motivated, energetic, service-minded and adept at solving problems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse constituents.
  • Must possess strong communication (written/oral) as well as interpersonal skills. • Proficient with computer software (word processing, spreadsheet, electronic communication, etc.).
