To thrive as a Well Testing professional, you need a solid background in petroleum engineering or a related field, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Familiarity with pressure testing equipment, data acquisition systems, and safety certifications such as H2S awareness are typically required. Excellent teamwork, adaptability, and effective communication help you coordinate with field crews and relay complex findings clearly. These skills are crucial to ensure accurate test results, safe operations, and effective collaboration in often challenging field conditions.
What does a typical day look like for someone working in well testing?
A typical day in Well Testing involves setting up and operating specialized equipment at well sites, monitoring pressure and flow data during test periods, and ensuring all operations comply with safety protocols. A major oil and gas company is looking for an Oil & Gas Field Operator in the Fort St John area. The successful candidate will stay in camp on a 15/13 schedule.

Based in Grande Prairie, Alberta, with a network of locations, Roska serves western and northern Canada, plus selected U.S., and international markets, with a primary focus on the Alberta/ B.C. region.
In addition to fulfilling the contract operating needs of oil and gas producing, midstream and pipeline companies, Roska Designs, Builds and Operates well-site facilities, rents equipment and provides Production Testing and flowback services using a company-owned well testing fleet. Requirements include:
- Minimum of 3 year’s with hands-on Field Operating experience
- Hands on experience with dehy, compression and SCADA
- Valid driver’s license and clean abstract
- Must have valid safety tickets (H2S Alive, Standard First Aid)
- A disciplined work ethic and ability to take initiative
- Problem solving skills
- Capable of working in both a team and individual environment
- Able to pass pre hire drug and alcohol testing
