Job description

Our client, a major pipeline and utility operator, in partnership with Roska DBO Inc., is seeking an experienced Pipeline Site Supervisor to support maintenance, alteration, and operational activities on high-pressure natural gas pipeline systems throughout Alberta.
This position will play a key leadership role in coordinating and safely executing operational activities associated with pipeline isolations, gas handling, flaring, purging, commissioning, and construction support. The successful candidate will act as the field operations lead during pipeline maintenance and construction activities while ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
This role requires strong operational experience, sound technical judgment, and the ability to coordinate effectively with client personnel, construction contractors, control centers, and field operations teams.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide on-site operational leadership and supervision during pipeline maintenance and construction activities.
  • Coordinate and oversee pipeline isolations, lockout/tagout procedures, depressurization, purging, flaring, venting, and commissioning activities.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company procedures, regulatory requirements, and environmental standards.
  • Participate in job procedure reviews, hazard assessments, kick-off meetings, and operational planning sessions.
  • Verify valves, isolation points, and operational controls prior to field execution.
  • Perform and verify pipeline isolation activities and ensure system integrity before work begins.
  • Maintain and verify 0% gas environments during welding, cutting, and hot work operations.
  • Coordinate field activities with contractors, operations personnel, emergency services, and client representatives.
  • Support temporary bypass installation, commissioning, monitoring, and decommissioning activities.
  • Monitor operational conditions during critical activities and respond appropriately to changing field conditions.
  • Complete operational reporting, gas release notifications, field documentation, and compliance records.
  • Ensure clear communication and delineation of responsibilities between all parties involved in the work scope.
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture throughout all phases of project execution.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 10+ years of oil & gas or pipeline operations experience.
  • Previous experience supervising high-pressure natural gas pipeline maintenance, construction, or operational activities.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Pipeline isolations
    • Lockout/tagout procedures
    • Flaring and purging operations
    • Gas handling and atmospheric monitoring
    • Commissioning and decommissioning activities
  • Experience acting as Prime Contractor, Employee-in-Charge, or Operations Lead is considered a strong asset.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to coordinate contractors and multiple stakeholders during critical operations.
  • Strong understanding of safe work practices, hazard identification, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Valid safety certifications including:
    • HS Alive
    • First Aid
    • CSTS / CSO
    • Ground Disturbance
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driver abstract.
