Job Description

In Virginia Tech's Division of Student Affairs, that's exactly what we're doing every day-guiding, nurturing, and supporting students as they learn and grow into the leaders and world-changers of today and tomorrow.
We're currently searching for a Coordinator to join our Residential Well-being team in Blacksburg, VA to help us in our mission. So, if you're committed to engaging residential students in programs, conversations, and experiences that develop cultural competency, foster inclusion, build bridges of understanding, and teach effective advocacy, please keep reading.
HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE ROLE:
1) You'll be joining the Residential Well-being team; a department centered on creating intentional residential communities that are characterized by belonging, flourishing, compassion for self and others, and meaningful engagement.
2) You'll be reporting to a Managing Director in Residential Well-being and the Assistant Director, in a Regular twelve-month, 100% administrative professional appointment.
3) You'll be responsible for empowering all residential students to engage across differences and find meaningful belonging in the campus community.
4) You'll identify trends and opportunities for dialogue, intervention, and programming to provide experiences that foster an environment of acceptance and civility, where students can share who they are and connect with others from different backgrounds, identities, and perspectives.
5) You'll lead a team of approximately 15-20 Residential Well-being Student Leaders who live in the residence halls and work to ensure that every student is engaged at the optimal level.
6) You'll have the chance to grow and take advantage of a developmental plan with opportunities to advance within the Department and the Division.
7) You'll be offered a base compensation package between $44,000 - $46,000 with an on-campus apartment or $50,000 - $52,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package which includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more!

3) THE TEAM: At Virginia Tech, Residential Well-being refers to a collaborative vision & effort by partners across the Division of Student Affairs, such as Hokie Wellness, the Dean of Students office, and Experience VT. The Residential Well-being office operates as a matrix organization, where coordinators have the opportunity to be part of a multi-disciplinary team that serves a district of approximately 2,000 students, as well as belonging to a team of fellow coordinators from other districts who work with an expert leader from the coordinating department.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field
Be team-oriented and demonstrate adaptability and initiative
Demonstrate vision and creativity in program design and promotion, as well as strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Demonstrate a growth mindset and embrace change as an opportunity for creativity, learning, and improvement
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in a relevant field
Experience with campus-wide engagement and strategic planning
 Creativity in identifying, brainstorming, implementing, and evaluating programs and services to build welcoming communities that foster belonging.
Ability to respond effectively to crises
Experience working with students in a complex, educational setting 
Overtime Status
