Position Announcement

Part-time Welding Instructor for High School

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Upper Cumberland is accepting applications for a Part-Time Dual Enrollment Welding Instructor working a total of 33 hours a week with average hours ranging from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 starting pay is $25.00 an hour.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a Welding training program at an accredited postsecondary institution; Associate degree and AWS certifications preferred
  • High School diploma or high school equivalent diploma
  • Welding Certifications preferred
  • ย Must have a minimum of (3) years of successful employment as a welder
  • ย Must be proficient in the use of general SMAW, GMAW, GTAW machines
  • Must have knowledge of all aspects of the welding industry including gas metal arc (MIG), tungsten inert gas (TIG), shielded metal arc (stick), oxyacetylene welding (gas), flux core welding, flame cutting, plasma arc cutting, brazing, and soldering
  • Must be proficient in measurement, layout, and blueprint reading
  • ย Must possess good oral and written communication skills
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and business and industry
  • ย Basic computer skills are a plus.
  • Must have a sincere desire to teach as well as remain current in the welding profession
  • Must be willing to work on a modified evening schedule on occasion.

ย 

Responsibilities: Instruction of postsecondary and secondary students in modern welding techniques, shop safety, job success, metallurgy, blueprint reading, welding symbols, fitting, and fabrication.ย  Establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships with students, other faculty, staff, general public, and area industry.ย  Monitor, grade, and evaluate studentsโ€™ progress and attendance using student records software.ย
