Copper Mountain Resort is a vacation destination located 75 miles west of Denver, Colorado in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Job Title: Snowmaking Maintenance Technician and Welder

Job Status: Year Round 11 Months

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Compensation:Proposed hiringrate of $26.50to $29.70+,actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.

Job Summary:

Performs and/or coordinates preventive maintenance and repairs on all snowmaking equipmentand machinery.Tasked with most welding projects, including but not limited to, (Structure, Repair, Pipeline, fabrication).Assistsin the training of all department employees tooperateefficiently and safety all department equipment to include pumps, compressors, electric motors, valves, snowmobiles, computerized control system, and all other functions as system support would require.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements the comprehensive preventive maintenance program for all systems and department equipment.

  • Welding Dutiesinclude:pipeline work, lateral and main line repair, structure welding, fabrication, cutting torch and grinding,

  • Performs maintenance and repairs as required by PM procedures, equipmentmanufacturersor equipment failure.

  • Coordinatespurchasing ofall maintenance tools, lubricants, filters, supplies and parts per approved budgets and management directives.

  • Keepsappropriate facilitiesand equipment in clean, good working order.Includes painting, hydrant repair during the snowmaking season and aftershutdown, etc.

  • Coordinates and performsspecific capital expansion installation projects, such as pipelinecomponentinstallation, etc.

  • Coordinates repairs and maintenance functions performed by contractors and consultants on all Snowmaking equipment.

  • Coordinates heavy equipment needs for repairs and assigned capital projects.

  • Operation of equipment specific to job requirements, i.e., snow grooming vehicles, snowmobiles, 4x4 ATV's, trucks, etc.

  • Keeps all record keeping in relation to repairs and preventive maintenance.

  • Welds and fabricates,in order toaffect emergency repairs to high pressures of snowmaking, night or day and under all weather conditions.

  • Operates the snowmaking system as needed.

  • Consults with manuals, trade publications, trade associations, vendors, fellow employees, outside schools and training programsin order tostay up to date in new maintenance technologies to improve the efficiency and production of ouroperation.

  • Assistsin budget preparation - operational and capital.

  • Produces safety awareness and handling regulations as put forth in the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for regulated substances.

  • Trains employees in the proper use, storage and handling of all hazardous materials used insnowmakingprocess.

  • Assistswithday to daysupervision ofdepartment.

  • Coordinates andassistsElectrical Maintenance in high voltage maintenance of the system.

  • Assistin hiring/discipline and training of department personnel.

  • Assistin good effective departmental communications.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Preferred Experience and Special Skills:

  • High school, tradeschoolor engineering training

  • Five years as full-time mechanic or plant engineer

  • Ski area or snowmaking experience

  • Certified welder or equivalent

  • Working knowledge of computers and how they relate to records specific to preventive maintenance.

  • Proficient skier or snowboarder

  • Working knowledge of total snowmakingplant, its individual parts and how they interrelate.

  • Above average aptitude in math asrequiredto troubleshoot and calibrate complex systems.

  • Colorado Snowmobile Certificate
