Job description

Job Summary

As a Welder Associate, you will have the opportunity to learn and assist in the layout, fitting, and fabrication of metal components to assemble quality side dump trailers and/or feeding systems. You will work under supervision, applying foundational knowledge of welding techniques and adhering to engineering requirements. This role is ideal for individuals eager to develop their welding skills within a supportive team environment.

Essential Duties May Include:

  • Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions under guidance.
  • Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment.
  • Removes rough spots from work piece, using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper.
  • Assist in maintaining proper equipment and learning basic repair when needed.
  • Weld parts in flat, vertical, and/or overhead positions.
  • Learn to interpret basic drawings and plans, carrying out work accordingly.
  • Assist in laying out, positioning, and securing parts and assemblies according to specifications, using the proper tools/equipment.
  • Learn to inspect grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using precision measuring equipment.
  • Follow the schedule established to meet drawing needs.
  • All other duties as assigned for operational effectiveness.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience Needed:

To be successful in this position, you will be a quick learner, safety-minded, self-driven, disciplined, and have a high standard of quality. Most importantly, you will have a genuine interest in working in a team environment and a willingness and ability to learn and perform other jobs. The ideal candidate for this position must pass an in-house welding test, demonstrate the ability to read basic blueprints, effectively manage their time, and have excellent communication skills. No prior professional welding experience is required, but vocational training or a strong mechanical aptitude is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to lift 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Continually required to stand.
  • Frequently required to walk.
  • Frequently required to utilize hand and finger dexterity.
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, or crawl.
